MANILA, Philippines – Eight policemen were killed when communist rebels ambushed a team that was responding to a crime report in Catarman, Samar Saturday morning.
A sketchy report to Camp Crame from Police Regional Office 8 said personnel of the Catarman police station led by deputy chief of police Senior Inspector Necasio San Antonio were responding to a reported shooting incident in Barangay Imelda when they were ambushed by an unknown number of New People’s Army guerrillas.
The report gave no other details.
